Rural Arizona Action Receives $100,000 grant from Yes on Prop 139: Arizona for Abortion Access

Updated: 2 days ago

Rural Arizona Action, across six rural counties in Arizona  is one of 13 organizations to receive this grant to collectively knock on 5 million doors and support get-out-the-vote efforts across the state

Phoenix, Ariz. (Oct. 16, 2024) — In the final six weeks leading up to the 2024 general

election, Rural Arizona Action received $100,000 from Arizona for Abortion Access to educate voters about voting Yes on Prop 139, the ballot initiative that enshrines the right to abortion in the state constitution.

This grant will allow Rural Arizona Action to connect with over 100,000 rural Arizona residents, prioritizing historically underserved communities across Cochise, Yuma, Coconino, Pinal, Mohave, and Pima counties. Through door-to-door engagement, canvassers will provide voters with information about Prop 139 and ensure they know their voting options. The funds will support canvassing activities and materials to reach rural voters directly and in the language of their choice.

“We’re committed to mobilizing rural Arizona voices,” said Pablo Correa, Executive Director of Rural Arizona Action. “With support from Arizona for Abortion Access, we’re going to reach 100,000 doors in the next six weeks to ensure rural Arizonans understand that voting Yes on Prop 139 protects their privacy, their rights and their communities.”

Arizona’s 2024 ballot will be the longest in state history. In addition to the presidential, U.S. Senate, and state legislature races, Arizonans will be asked to vote on 13 propositions, including Prop 139 to protect abortion access.

“The vast majority of Arizonans support abortion access and believe that decisions about pregnancy and abortion should be between a woman and her provider, not politicians,” said Laura Dent, campaign manager for Yes on Prop 139. “We are so grateful to support our partners in the field who are working tirelessly to engage and activate voters in every corner of the state. Together, they are making sure Arizonans get the information they need, in a language they speak, so that they know voting yes on Prop 139 is a vote to keep the government out of personal medical decisions.”
