This is why I am excited to announce a new collaboration between Rural Arizona Action and The Copper Courier, one that aims to shine a spotlight on the stories, struggles, priorities, and successes of rural Arizonans.
Rural Arizona Action has always been committed to engaging with and empowering communities across our state’s rural counties. From Pinal to Pima, Cochise to Mohave, Yuma to Coconino, our teams and canvassers are on the ground, working tirelessly to connect with voters and community members. Through this partnership, we hope to bring those voices to the forefront, providing a platform where they can be heard, understood, and appreciated by a wider audience.
For me, this work is deeply personal. Rural Arizona Action was born out of the duty I felt towards my community. After I ran for office in 2018, I discovered a deep-rooted need to support and amplify the voices of neighbors, friends, and our overall community. In 2019, I, along with co-founder Natali Fierros Bock, created this organization to provide a space for rural Arizonans to organize and empower themselves to create the changes they want to see in their communities.
Throughout that journey, I encountered countless stories of resilience, hard work, and hope, but I also saw a need for an organization that could focus on the unique challenges and opportunities in our rural areas.
My mission was not just to represent these communities, but also to help empower its local leaders and youth long after elections are over.
I know firsthand the power of storytelling, and I believe every Arizonan has the right to be a part of the broader conversation, no matter how remote their home is or what corners of the state they reside in.
Our collaboration with The Copper Courier is rooted in the belief that every community, regardless of its size or location, deserves to have access to raise their voice. This partnership will allow us to share biweekly videos from our canvassers and community members, showcasing the real-life experiences and challenges that define rural Arizona.
In these times, when misinformation can spread faster than facts, it is crucial the stories we tell are grounded in truth and lived experiences. Rural Arizona communities face unique challenges, from access to healthcare and education, to economic opportunities and political representation. These challenges require tailored solutions, informed by the people who live them every day. By sharing their stories, we can help inform policy decisions that reflect the real needs of our communities.
This partnership is more than just content-sharing—it is a commitment to ensuring that the voices of rural Arizona are not just heard but are central to the conversations shaping our future.
At Rural Arizona Action, we believe that true democracy thrives when all voices are included. This partnership with The Copper Courier is a significant step towards that ideal. Together, we will make sure that the stories of rural Arizona are told, not as an afterthought, but as a crucial part of the fabric that makes up our state.
